Washington D.C. Visitors Guide To Inauguration Day 2009
Washington D.C. is about to become the number one destination in America. On January 20, 2009, Barak Obama will become the 44th President of the United States. Due to so many people traveling to Washington D.C. for the inauguration, here is my Washington D.C. visitors guide to Inauguration Day 2009.
Inauguration Day 2009 Schedule
The entire week of January 18 through January 24 will revolve around inauguration activities. Here is a list of the major events happening for the 2009 inauguration.
- Sunday January 18 - Inaugural kickoff at the Lincoln Memorial
- Monday January 19 - There will be a Concert for America’s Children at the Verizon Center. The concert is free but you have to get tickets at www.pic2009.org.
- Tuesday January 20 - Barak Obama Swearing In Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. at the US Capitol; after the swearing in ceremony there will be the 2009 Inaugural Parade.
- On the evening of January 20, 2009 there will be Inauguration balls throughout the Washington D.C. If you are hoping to attend an Inauguration ball, be sure to get your tickets ASAP.
If you are still looking for a hotel in Washington D.C. for the Inauguration, good luck. These hotel rooms book up fast. However, some of my favorite Washington D.C. hotels include the Mayflower Hotel, the WIllard, and the Embassy Suites Hotel in Dupont Circle.
